Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as probate, wills, trusts and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond the legal realm since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force and worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tristate area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's need.
