Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned beyond the realm of law since she was actively a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
