Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is focused on a variety of aspects of family issues. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and child welfare concerns. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, securing a spot among the top 10 students in her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law including divorce, custody guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
